Ancillaries is an umbrella term that covers anything a character may equip in their inventory, however in recent times it is used to categorise certain items.
Ancillaries should not be confused with Magical Items.

Ancillaries are used cumulatively so, for example, those added in Total War: Warhammer are also available in Total War: Warhammer II and in Total War: Warhammer III.

Ancillaries are ranked according to rarity. With the exception of mounts, all ancillaries can have the Common, Uncommon, Rare and Unique rarities.

Banners[]
Main article: Banners
- Banners can only be equipped by Lords.
- The Banner's effects can be applied to a unit in the army in the pre-battle UI unless the banner is locked to a specific unit.
- Banners can provide attributes, contact effects, stats increases or passive abilities.

Banner Rune[]
Main article: Runes
- These ancillaries are available to
Dwarfs. - Banners Runes can only be equipped by Lords.
- Banner Runes are crafted in
The Forge mechanic by spending Oathgold and Resources. - The Banner Runes are functionally similar to banners i.e its effects can be apply to a unit in the army in the pre-battle UI.
Character Rune[]
Main article: Runes
- These ancillaries are available to
Dwarfs. - Character Runes can equipped by Lords and Heroes.
- Character Runes have their own section where they can be equipped so they won't overlap with Banners, Banner Runes or Followers.
- Lords and Heroes have 3 slots for Characters Runes.
- Character Runes are crafted in
The Forge mechanic by spending Oathgold and Resources.
Followers[]

- Followers can equipped by Lords and Heroes.
- Followers can provide various buffs for armies, settlement and province management.
Gifts of Chaos[]

- These ancillaries are available to
Beastmen. - The Gifts of Chaos are functionally similar to banners i.e it can only be equipped by a Lord and its effects can be applied to a unit in the army in the pre-battle UI.
Marks of Chaos[]

- These ancillaries are available to
Warriors of Chaos in the previous games. - The Marks of Chaos are functionally similar to banners i.e it can only be equipped by a Lord and its effects can be applied to a unit in the army in the pre-battle UI.
- As of Total War: Warhammer III, the Marks of Chaos are no longer available as they were transformed from ancillaries into attributes that are innate on the Warriors of Chaos units.
Mounts[]
Main article: Mounts
- Mounts are creatures and vehicles that Lords and Heroes can equip and ride in battle.
- Mounts can change the size, stats and attributes of units when equipped.
- Mounts are automatically equipped to a character when reaching certain ranks (this only applies to Total War: Warhammer III).
- In the previous two games, you have to spend a skill point to obtain mounts.
Poisons[]
Main article: Poisons
- These ancillaries are available to the
Ghosts of Pahuax faction of the
Lizardmen. - Poisons are functionally similar to banners i.e it can only be equipped by a Lord and its effects can be applied to a unit in the army in the pre-battle UI.
- These ancillaries should not be confused with the
Poison! contact effect.
