Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

Aymara Swamps is a province introduced in Total War: Warhammer III, located in Lustria.

Background[]

It was near the Lizardmen city of Pahuax that the Cathayan sea captain Yin-Tuan ran aground in 1690. He had been part of a huge naval expedition led by Yin-Yin the Sea Dragon, aimed at conquering The Southlands and thereby wrestling the spice trade away from Araby. However, shortly after setting to sea the fleet was hit by a storm, and its war junks were scattered to the four winds. Yin-Tuan's ship was blown onto the shores of northern Lustria.

At first believing he had landed in the Southlands, Yin-Tuan was moved to despair when, having crossed the narrow isthmus here and losing half his men in the effort, he realised his mistake. He was attacked and captured by the Lizardmen, who sacrificed his remaining men, but spared the captain when they found a golden dragon tattoo on his back, which they took to mean he was marked by Sotek. After many other hair-raising adventures, Yin-Tuan managed to escape the Lizardmen empire on a passing spice junker. Other than Yin-Yin herself, he was the only member of the entire fleet to make it back home, a catastrophe that took Grand Cathay a hundred years to recover from.

Now the Dragon Emperor has sent a new expedition to Lustria, this time led by the most dependable general at his disposal: Yuan Bo, the Jade Dragon. It is the Celestial Court's belief that the Wu Xing Compass can be strengthened by tapping it into the magical currents of the Geomantic Web. Such an enterprise will undoubtedly arouse the ire of the Lizardmen, and it remains to be seen whether it will fare any better than the last time Cathayan boots sank into the Aymara Swamps.
