“ | How can one describe the face of perfection? Azazel, embodiment of irresistible desire, first in Slaanesh’s eyes and captain of His legions. | „ |
Azazel is a Warriors of Chaos and Slaanesh Legendary Lord unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III with Champions of Chaos. In the campaign, he leads The Ecstatic Legions.
Description[ | ]
Exactly when Azazel abandoned humanity and pledged his mortal soul to Slaanesh none can say, but in the distant past he was the chief of the Gerreon tribe, one of the twelve great peoples of Sigmar. After betraying his liege-lord, he fled to the Northern Wastes where he rose quickly in the Pleasure God’s favour for his treachery and acts of debauchery. After smashing a ten-thousand strong host of Khorne and slaying its mighty Champion in equal combat, Azazel attracted his master’s gaze once more and was elevated to a state of Daemonhood. Under his command, the Dark Prince’s armies have enjoyed one blissful triumph after another.
Introduction description[ | ]
It is said that Azazel’s beauty is second only to that of Slaanesh himself, and those who gaze upon him cannot gainsay such claims. As the Prince of Damnation prowls the mortal plane, his arrival is met by the usual fanfare he has become accustomed to, the barbarians of the Steppes fling themselves at his feet as they wail and proclaim their allegiance and love. Yet this time the world must take heed, for the darkling monster’s appearance is a portent most dire. Deep within the psyche of the other three Powers has always lurked the suspicion that Slaanesh’s influence could one day eclipse them all. By the might of His Ecstatic Legions, that day is nigh.
Attributes[ | ]
- Wizard
- ▲ Spellcaster: This unit can cast spells.
- ▲ Armour-Piercing: The damage of armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
- ▲ Causes Terror: This unit can cause terror, making its melee target rout for a short time. Units that cause terror are immune to terror and fear themselves.
- ▲ Flying: This unit can fly.

Strategy[ | ]
Azazel is a powerful melee spellcaster, capable of dealing high damage and delivering devastating morale shocks to enemy units. His "Domineering Aura" passive reduces the melee attack (MA) and melee defense (MD) of all enemies within a 35-meter radius. This debuff intensifies with each enemy unit in a 100-meter area that has wavering leadership or lower, up to a maximum of -10 MA/MD.
Despite his high offensive capabilities, Azazel has low armor and is best used with hit-and-run tactics, particularly when flanking enemy formations. Leveraging the Lore of Slaanesh, he excels at debuffing enemies and sustaining himself through the "Soul Feeder" passive, which restores his health with every spell cast.
Additionally, Azazel benefits from a minor Mortis Engine effect through his "Serpentine Tail" passive, allowing him to deal constant damage over time to enemies around him.
In summary, Azazel is a devastating flanker who can strike from any angle thanks to his ability to fly. However, it is recommended to avoid prolonged engagements and focus on hit-and-run tactics to maximize his effectiveness in battle.
