Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

With a sudden swoop and a deadly swipe, death is delivered from above, by claw and beak.

Blood Vultures is an Ogre Kingdoms war beast unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III with the Omens of Destruction.

Recruitment[]

Description[]

The Blood Vulture is a large, predatory bird that originates high in the Mountains of Mourn, belying its scavenging nature by having no qualms about using its sharp claws and powerful beak against living creatures. Given the gluttonous feeding frenzies in which the Ogres partake when they go to war, it is little wonder that they’ve developed a close relationship with the most vicious battlefield scavengers of the skies. Ogre Hunters in particular like to capture and tame Blood Vultures, using their deadly propensity for aggression to help them hunt down prey or attack their foes in battle.

Attributes[]

  • Flying War Beasts
  • Very Fast: This unit can run circles around most other units, taunting and harrassing the enemy or evading its missile fire.
  • Vanguard Deployment: This unit can deploy in an expanded deployment area, allowing it to start the battle within striking distance of the enemy - or somewhere unexpected.

Strategy[]

While the same cost, Blood Vultures are frankly better than Sabretusk Packs, as they fly, they don't Rampage, and they grow more powerful the more casualties pile up around them. With Skrag the Slaughterer, they become excellent paired with Gorgers as a sort of Hammer and Anvil, diving into the rear of the the enemy's frontline, and speedy enough to rundown most anything.

Hunters give them the same buffs they do every Ogre beast unit, which hilariously means Ogres have access to a Stalking Vanguard flying unit. So long as you have a couple in your army with a Hunter, artillery will simply never be a problem to you.
