Recruitment[ | ]

Description[ | ]

The most favoured of all Bloodletters are granted the honour of becoming Bloodcrushers. Bloodcrushers are Khorne's shock cavalry, a deadly combination of battleĀ frenzied Bloodletter and the unstoppable crushing mass of a Juggernaut of Khorne. When the Daemonic legions go to war, bellowing hordes of Bloodcrushers stampede across the battlefield, trampling Khorne's foes into unrecognisable pulp. When battle begins, Bloodcrushers relentlessly hurl themselves at the strongest point of an enemy's lines. Here they hack, maim and gore their way through the strongest troops the foe can muster, exulting Khorne's name with savage joy for each enemy slain.

  • ā–² Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from Modifier icon armour piercingArmour-Piercing damage.
  • ā–² Anti-Infantry: Anti-infantry units have an advantage against targets that are smaller than a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against small targets, superior weight used to smash through lighter enemies, or an explosive attack from range that effects a large area.
  • ā–² Armour-Piercing: The damage of Modifier icon armour piercingarmour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.

Bloodcrushers of Khorne are powerful, mid-late game, armour piercing, anti-infantry cavalry. They are are primarily a melee cavalry designed to stay in the fight and brawl with high-armour, late game infantry. They do however have reasonable shock potential, having a slightly higher base charge value that other pure melee cavalry (owing to their 'Monstrous' designation) and so can form quite a versatile, middle ground between the two cavalry types.

As 'Monstrous Cavalry' they have higher mass that regular cavalry (and the equal highest mass for a cavalry unit in the Khorne and Warriors of Chaos roster at 1650, compared to 1130 for Chaos Knights). This allows greater disruption of enemy formations, allowing Khornes powerful melee units a longer line of engagement. This helps to greatly maximise the killing power of units such as Bloodletters and Warriors of Chaos (Dual Weapons).

In both the Khorne and the Demon of Chaos armies, this unit benefits from the revamped Winds of Magic mechanic, introduced in Total War: Warhammer 3. Low WoM (< 20) can reduce the Physical Resistance of this unit by up to 10%, and high WoM (> 80) will see their Spell Resistance increase.

These units have access to the 'Hellblade" buff, increasing both base and armour piercing damage by 20% when they accumulate at least 60 kills. When used to flank effectively, harass armoured units, and allowed to rear charge an already engaged line, this buff can be obtained quite quickly. However the lower model count can also greatly hinder the killing potential of this unit, meaning that engagements must be chosen carefully in order to both utilise the unit at it's full power.

Like all cavalry, they should not charge, or engage with anti-large units and their low model count (24) will see them in trouble almost immediately if swamped by spear or halberdier infantry. Their relatively slow speed compared to other cavalry means that they are not as capable of switching targets 'on the fly' nor are they as effective at reengaging with the main battle if they are tasked at chasing down units that rout early in the battle. This unit, therefore, requires moderate micromanagement than other melee cavalry in order to maximise it's DPS value.

When use effectively, however, this unit can carve a bloody path through the enemies most expensive infantry units, and is an excellent cavalry to support Khornes already formidable melee roster.
