War with Ursun Revivalists

Strategy[]

For the Ursun Revivalists, this relatively formidable starter foe is a taster of the extremely uncompromising campaign that awaits you if you try and stick it out in the Chaos Wastes. An alternative start can be fashioned by taking the Tower of Torment as normal, then sailing south and seizing Praag as you're selling off the first settlement to whoever will have it. This will give you a great capital to work with, put you in contact with Katarina and a host of other friendly faces who should help stabilise your position against the huge number of foes who will be coming your way from the north.

If you do decide to stay in your original position, then it is imperative you wipe these guys out as fast as you can then focus down Archaon, who will otherwise become absurdly powerful and will overwhelm you with the help of the Demon Prince. Because Tamurkhan is gated to head eastwards, there's a decent chance he'll simply ignore you, so you then have a window to deal with the threats to the west.

For Archaon, it's easy to confederate Bloody Sword after they've taken a couple of Ls off Boris, which you may fancy doing if you want to create a bulwark against the Demon Prince so you can focus on taking out Boris and then heading south. This will preclude you from owning the Howling Citadel Dark Fortress, however.
