Boris Ursus is a Kislev Legendary Lord introduced in Total War: Warhammer III. In the campaign, he leads the
Ursun Revivalists.
Unlocking[ | ]
In order to unlock Boris Ursus as a starting legendary lord with the Ursun Revivalists in The Realm of Chaos and Immortal Empires campaigns, the player must:
- Begin a Realm of Chaos campaign playing as either The Ice Court (Tzarina Katarin) or The Great Orthodoxy (Kostaltyn).
- Hold all 3 settlements of Kislev, Praag and Erengrad for 10 turns, which will cause you to receive The Frozen Falls quest.
- Complete The Frozen Falls (quest battle) - after this, The Red Tzar Returns dilemma will pop up.
After this, Boris and the Ursun Revivalists will unlock for The Realm of Chaos and Immortal Empires campaigns, if you wish to begin a campaign as them in the future.
However, he is available from the start when playing Something Rotten in Kislev.
Description[ | ]
Kislev’s history is blighted by many awful leaders throughout its past – and Tzar Boris is certainly not amongst them. A formidable figure in every regard, he is famed as an implacable warlord and a cultural reformer. His faith in the gods of Kislev, and the revival of the Cult of Ursun, has made him popular with the pious, while his militaristic nature gives him significant sway with the soldiery. Though the Great War of Chaos was outside of living memory, its scars remained visible, and Boris has long laboured to ready his beloved Motherland against the rising threat.
Introduction description[ | ]
"Kislev. The bulwark against the darkness. Yet the Motherland suffers, severed from its god.
If it is to survive, the nation needs its saviour once more. The folk of Kislev think Boris Bohka dead, but his body was claimed by the Motherland, and he has slept in ice ever since. Yet Ursun's pained roar will surely have started to rouse the Red Tzar.
I journey to him now. He lays at a sacred site hidden by the Great Orthodoxy, deep in the cold oblasts of Kislev. If anyone can save the Bear-God of Kislev, it is Ursun's High Priest... Raddi Bohka... Boris Ursus.
But even should I manage to wake him, I will need to make a strong case that he should listen to me."
Attributes[ | ]
Halberd Infantry
- ▲ Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from
Armour-Piercing damage.
- ▲ Armour-Piercing: The damage of
armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
- ▲ Anti-Large: Anti-Large: Anti-large units have an advantage against targets that are at least as large as a horse. This advantage can be a
damage bonus against large targets or an attack that focuses on a very small area. However, some units are simply better against large targets because their attacks are slow and easy to dodge by skilled melee combatants.

Strategy[ | ]
Boris' skill, Resettler (available from level 6), allows you to colonize Ruins without any cost as Boris. Raise Boris to level 6 by fighting more enemies, and when you reach that rank, use him to colonize Ruins and secure a network of settlements to raise your income and armies to prepare for further assaults.
