Boydinov's Brawlers (Streltsi) is a Kislev Regiment of Renown missile infantry unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III with Shadows of Change.
Recruitment[]
Description[]
The Streltsi were originally armed with bardiches and handguns, in order that they could rest their firearm upon the crook of their polearm and thereby achieve greater accuracy. However, in an effort to get 'one more' shot off before the enemy closed upon them, the warriors would often run out of time to effectively stow their gun and ready their bardiche. Instead, the heavy gun was often simply reversed and used as a bludgeon. Eventually, Streltsi captains took the radical step of embracing this alternative approach, and had their rotas’ rifles modified to include axeblades on the gun stock.
Attributes[]
Gun-Greataxe Infantry
- ▲ Blunderbuss: This unit carries a Blunderbuss-type missile weapon, which is highly effective at short ranges, but lacks accuracy at a distance.
- ▲ Hybrid: This unit can perform well in both ranged combat and melee.
- ▲ Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from
Armour-Piercing damage.
- ▲ Armour-Piercing: The damage of
armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
Unit Abilities[]
Passive Abilities[]
Changes from Streltsi[]
Missile Strength increased from 17 to 30
Melee Attack increased to 40
Melee Defence increased to 40
Reload Time reduced from 13 seconds to 10 seconds
Range reduced from 140 to 100
Cost increased from 850 to 1150 (SP & MP)
Upkeep increased from 213 to 288
Strategy[]
A more short ranged and melee capable version of Streltsi, this unit excels at dealing out damage at close range to high value targets, especially those with low armor such as Wrathmongers or other Khorne high tier infantry which threatens your frontline. As with Streltsi in general, they can handle themselves well in melee, but will struggle against dedicated anti-infantry. A particularly strong counter against Azazel for Kostaltyn's campaign.
