Bruiser is an Ogre Kingdoms Hero unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III with Omens of Destruction.
Recruitment[]
Unlocked with: Bull Pen, Bull Pen (Ogre Camp) or Iron Mine
Description[]
Aside from the Tyrant himself, a tribe's Bruisers are the most imposing Ogres in terms of sheer size and strength, and are often related to the kingdom's ruler. Bruisers spend a great deal of their time capitalising on their license to smack seven shades of dung out of any Ogre not toeing the line, not eating messily enough, or spending too much time playing with his Gnoblars. Bruisers are sometimes entrusted with the tribe's standard, a banner so robust it can be used as a weapon. A metal-bound pole smashed through one's head by a Bruiser will be felt no matter what's hanging from it.
Attributes[]
Melee Specialist
- ▲ Ironfist: The ironfist is used by the Ogres to parry blows and block missiles.
- ▲ Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from
Armour-Piercing damage.
- ▲ Anti-Infantry: Anti-infantry units have an advantage against targets that are smaller than a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against small targets, superior weight used to smash through lighter enemies, or an explosive attack from range that effects a large area.

Strategy[]
As the name suggests, Bruisers are the Ogre Kingdoms' dedicated melee specialists. The sharp contrast they draw with every other Ogre hero is in the armour department, so although they share the same size and weak melee defence most Ogres have they are not going to get focused down quite so easily, enabling them to tank for extended periods, ideally supported by Gut magic.
With Puncture and their support abilities, Bruisers ideally want to be with an elite unit like Maneaters hunting down the enemy's own characters together: punching through the line with a charge, then surrounding them and focusing them down. However if the target is mounted this can be tricky to accomplish, and it might be better to leave the Bruiser in a defensive role, particularly if their lord is a Slaughtermaster or Paymaster who might need their help.
