Chaos Rifts are portals to the Realm of Chaos that appear after Ursun periodically roars in pain, which may occur in Realm of Chaos campaign.
Gameplay[]
Chaos Rifts will open every 25 to 35 turns. One Rift will spawn in each province at a predetermined location, though the specific Chaos Realm of the Rift will vary each time.
Chaos Rifts last for several turns, after which they close. The player may choose to use them to quickly teleport their Legendary Lord's army across the map, or attack any of the four realms in the Realm of Chaos. They can also choose to close the Rift either with any army after defeating the Daemon army guarding it, or as a hero action for some currency.
When a faction collects the four Daemon prince's souls they need to confront Be'lakor, they must use a Rift to teleport their Legendary Lord's army to the Forge of Souls and fight the final battle. Any faction can also teleport their Legendary Lord's army to the entrance of the forge to intercept the other faction's army, but cannot enter the forge themselves if they lack the four souls required.
Daemonic armies[]
If the player chooses not to do anything, Daemonic armies will emerge from the Rift and spread their specific Corruption within the province. These will be the same armies that guard each of the four Gods' realms.
- red Rift - Brazen Throne (Khorne)
- green Rift - Bubonic Swarm (Nurgle)
- purple Rift - Rapturous Excess (Slaanesh)
- blue Rift - All-Seeing Eye (Tzeentch)
Preventing Chaos Rifts[]
The wall building for any settlement within a province can be built to prevent any Chaos Rifts from appearing in their region, also stopping Daemonic raids and attacks that may disrupt the player's economy.
Rifts can be prevented from spawning by building the wall building for each settlement. The exception is the capital city for each faction, as a rift will always spawn there when Ursun roars.
When the Rifts close[]
All the Chaos Rifts will eventually close, and when that happens, the Daemonic armies will attack every player around them.
As the Warriors of Chaos[]
As the Warriors of Chaos the rifts function much differently. All rifts on the map are closed after the main events of the campaign ended. Every WoC faction can reopen a rift to use as a teleporter across the map. Unlike in the normal campaign, they cannot be closed by any faction, and will eternally spill out 10 of the openers favored corruption.
