To wage war for Nurgle is to pile the worm-riddled corpses of His enemies high upon His decrepit altars.

Chaos Warriors of Nurgle are a Warriors of Chaos and Nurgle melee infantry unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III with Champions of Chaos.

Recruitment[]

Description[]

An unbearable stench always heralds the approach of the Plague Lord’s warriors. Their helmets often bear great, withered horns and they are clad in rust-tarnished armour which conceal vile conditions or mutations – perhaps a slimy tentacle, or translucent, jelly-like flesh that reveals their decaying inner organs, or simply a body riddled with leprosy. Sometimes the corpulent meat of their bodies spills from the cracks of their armour. Whatever the case, they are deadly fighters who are near-impervious to pain and fight on despite receiving the most horrendous wounds imaginable.

Attributes[]

  • Axe Infantry
  • Armoured & Shielded: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from Armour-Piercing damage. Shields have a chance of blocking arrows, bolts, rifle shots and similar small arms fire - but only in a forward facing arc.
  • Poison Attacks: The poisonous attacks of this unit weaken the target's speed and damage and/or apply the Poison! debuff.

Strategy[]

As their description suggests, Nurgle's Chaos Warriors are extremely resilient both in and out of melee, and are some of the best mid-tier anvil units in the entire game. They inflict poison, further reducing foes' ability to deal damage and making them even more susceptible to flankers. The problem for Nurgle is that they already have a lot of units that fill the exact same niche, and not a lot that can do the actual flanking. Still, they're more reliable than Nurglings and Plaguebearers for the simple reason they won't disappear if they break.

For Undivided factions this type of Chaos Warrior is very much worth your consideration, being an ideal core to base your damage dealers around.
