  • Wh2 dlc09 tmb constructs.pngConstruct: This unit is an animated construct (does not rout, is immune to terror, becomes unstable when Icon stat morale.pngmorale is low). Necrotects can push it to its full combat potential and restore it in battle.
  • Causes fear.png Can Cause Fear: This unit frightens all enemy units, reducing their Icon stat morale.pngleadership when nearby. It is also immune to fear. Fear penalties do not stack.
  • Hide forest.png Hide (forest): This unit can hide in forests until enemy units get too close.

Chosen of the Gods (Ushabti - Great Bow) is a Tomb Kings ranged Construct unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer II with the Rise of the Tomb Kings DLC. Bearing the faces of Nehekhara’s illustrious pantheon, these Ushabti use spear-sized arrows – and the fear of the gods – to strike at the unfortunate foe.

Description[edit | edit source]

The Ushabti are large, guardian statues carved into the likeness of the gods and goddess of ancient Nehekhara, statues that stand guard and protect the perimeters of the necropolises and within the passageways of the great pyramids of the Tomb Kings. These Ushabti are imposing monuments to Nehekhara's former power, and all who pass through their shadows tremble under their unnerving and imposing sight. In times of need, the Liche Priests awaken the Ushabti with powerful incantations, and with the sound of cracking stone, the Ushabti step down from their plinths and daises, silent and ready for war. In ancient times, the living warriors of Nehekhara took great strength from the fact that the Ushabti fought alongside, for who could fail to be inspired by the physical representations of their gods marching into battle at their sides.

Abilities[edit | edit source]

  • Anti-Infantry: Anti-infantry units have an advantage against targets that are smaller than a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against small targets, superior weight used to smash through lighter enemies, or an explosive attack from range that effects a large area.
  • Armour-Piercing Missiles: The damage of armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
  • Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from Armour-Piercing damage.
  • Shieldbreaker: This unit’s shield-breaking attacks can significantly weaken the target’s chance of blocking missile attacks.

Ushabti with great bows are already strong artillery like unit, the Regiment of Renown version gives them even more accuracy and firepower at a higher cost. Their missiles split in the air before their target like a cluster bomb, making them devastating and disrupting to infantry formations. That they are a higher cost means they also need to be protected by all means necessary to ensure they get maximum value from their attacks. They pair well with one or two other great bow units so they can decimate enemies before front lines meet. If it turns into a missile duel, consider stationing a Necrotect nearby with their armour and missile resistance buffs to protect them.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

In the ancient language of Nehekhara, the name Ushabti translates literally as 'chosen of the gods'
