Description[]
By dint of constant fighting, some Slayers fail more than others at the task of dying in battle, becoming ever more scar-riddled and dangerous over time. Often known as Dragon or Daemon Slayers, they tend to be joined by a swarm of younger brethren from the Slayer Cult who flock towards such renowned killers, assured that a greater Slayer can always lead them straight towards foes against whom a worthy end might be made. This attraction is not altogether appreciated by the irascible and laconic Dragon or Daemon Slayer, who do not want to dare chance one of their following getting in a lucky stroke and robbing them of a glorious final blow.
Attributes[]
Dual Axe Infantry
- ▲ Melee Expert: Melee Experts might have a very strong melee attack or melee defence, or high values in both. Some also have melee-focused skills like Charge Defence. Use them to counter other strong melee units. When facing them, it is best to take them out before they can enter melee.
- ▲ Unbreakable: This unit does not suffer any form of
leadership loss and will never rout.
- ▲ Whirling Axes: Slayers are armed with two axes, deftly whirling them at high speed to deflect incoming missile fire.

Strategy[]
A singular generic lord, Daemon Slayers have zero armour, and no amount of health and ward save can entirely make up for that. They're fast (for a dwarf) and extremely good duelists, able to do eye-watering amounts of damage to any single entity in melee, but this in turn feeds into their weakness of being a very obvious target for the enemy, particularly any ranged they have. If you're using a standard gunline/quareller dwarf army then a Lord (Dwarfs) or Runelord are better picks, since you can tarpit with them much more effectively. If you want an SEM hunter in such an army, that's what Dragon Slayers are for.
Daemon Slayers meanwhile shine in dedicated Slayer armies, units that they buff hugely through their skill tree and can keep up with them. In particular, their Glorious Death active prevent Slayer models from dying in a radius around them for a short period regardless of how much punishment they take, which popped just after you charge into the enemy with four of five units full of them is absolutely devastating.
Ironwarden's Tankard is a must for Daemon Slayers, and even with that and other protective trinkets they need careful micro to avoid them getting melted. Still, put in charge of the right army they can be very effective, and can be pitted against even tough Legendary Lords with the expectation of them coming out on top.
