Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

Deadrock Gap is a province introduced in Total War: Warhammer III, located in The Old World.

Lore[]

North-east of Karaz-a-Karak, the mountains decline into dense pine forest until, at the huge natural rock formation known as the World's Edge Archway, a wide pass down into the desolation of the Darklands can be found. This is Deadrock Gap, which for milennia served as one of the major gateways to the World's Edge Mountains.

During the Dwarfen Golden Age the Silver Road ran through here, transporting riches from the east to their holds. Mount Gunbad was the major hold in the area, the only source of the extremely valuable Brynduraz ('shining stone') anywhere in the known world. So valuable was the mineral that when the War of Vengeance began and dwarfs of every hold were conscripted to fight the elves, those of Gunbad were spared so the mining there could continue uninterrupted.

When the Great Catastrophe occurred and countless Greenskins poured westwards, this was one of the first areas they fell upon, and Mount Gunbad was one of the first holds to be overwhelmed. Over two hundred years later, Logazor Brightaxe led a force that managed to retake the mines, but this victory left them isolated in the midst of a land still riddled with orcs and goblins, which turned it into a tempting and vulnerable goal. After the hold was swallowed by a tide of green once again, its true dwarfen name was struck from the Dammaz Kron, never to be spoken again.

Deadrock Gap remains firmly in the hands of the Greenskins, and the dwarfs have turned their attention southwards in their search for safer trade routes. It is a centre specifically for the Night Goblins, who are drawn by the extensive network of deep, dark caverns that lie below it.
