“ | Eshin’s supreme operative is a potent instrument of murder and sabotage, unseen until the fleeting moment of his victim's death. | „ |
Deathmaster Snikch is a Skaven Legendary Lord unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer II with The Shadow and the Blade. In the campaign, he leads the Clan Eshin faction.
Description[ | ]
Deathmaster Snikch is the Chief Assassin and prime agent of Lord Sneek, Lord of Decay and Nightlord of Clan Eshin. His infamy is only exceeded by the mystery which surrounds his whereabouts at any particular time. Lord Sneek ensures that this is the case – as long as no one knows Snikch's location no one can truly feel safe. Deathmaster Snikch has appeared all over the Old World at one time or another, seldom being seen but always leaving his distinctive symbol traced in blood beside the decapitated heads of his victims. No one truly knows what horrors the Deathmaster has perpetrated during his long and mysterious existence. It is only on the battlefield that the Deathmaster's presence can at least be felt, stalking his victims, concealed beneath the magical Cloak of Shadows, its ensorcelled power strong enough to make a mockery of the most intricate defences. Where the stealthy tread of Deathmaster Snikch falls, no prince or warlord is safe from his blades.
Campaign Description[ | ]
Eye of the Vortex[ | ]
The motives of each Council of Thirteen member are forever shrouded in secrecy — most of all, the Grand Nightlord of Clan Eshin. Yet Deathmaster Snikch is on the move, dispatched by his master to the arid dunes of the Southlands to retrieve a sinister source of immense power. The exact nature of the power is a mystery, but the involvement of Eshin's deadliest hit-rat is a harbinger that the assassination of some unforseen targets will be necessary — nay, inevitable!
Mortal Empires[ | ]
Try as they might, no-one ever really knows the precise location of the elusive Deathmaster Snikch save for Snikch himself. That is exactly how the Grand Nightlord likes it, keeping Clan Eshin's enemies squinting around at the shadows in fear. The current rumour echoing around the Under-Empire is that the Deathmaster is somewhere in the vicinity of Gnoblar Country, but as with all Snikch's shady affairs, his exact purpose there is unclear to all but him...
Immortal Empires[ | ]
Snikch has ventured to Xing Po in Cathay to garner more mastery of the arts of Assassination for Clan Eshin.
Attributes[ | ]
- Triple Sword Infantry
- ▲ Weeping Blade: Weeping Blades devour armour. A couple of slashes is all that's needed for their corrosive venom to eat through even the thickest of plates.
- ▲ Scaling Damage: The amount of damage this unit causes increases based upon the number of hitpoints the target has lost.
- ▲ Stalk: This unit can move hidden in any terrain.
- ▲ Dodge: This highly dexterous unit dodges blades and missiles with ease; its luck is known to run out quickly when facing magical weapons, however.

Strategy[ | ]
Unsurprisingly, Snikch is an amazing assassin unit. His damage scales based on how much health an enemy has lost, meaning he should never take a straight 1v1, but steal in for the kill when an enemy has been weakened. Bring some Assassins with you, since you can build Hidden Lair and get 2 Assassin just from that building in the early game. Whirl of Weeping Blades is a decent crowd clearing ability that helps prevent him from being pinned down by infantry. Deathmaster Sigil is a short snare that can allow him to catch a target or run away from a dangerous one.

Trivia[ | ]
Before release, Snikch was labelled as Double sword infantry despite the fact that he wields a third sword in his tail. The content creators that got early access noted this and Party Elite raised the issue to CA. This led to the label as Triple sword infantry, the only unit in the game to have such a tag.
