Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

Not to be confused with the Warriors of Chaos unit: Marauders of Slaanesh
The mightiest of Norscans, bereft of fear or pity, delighting in every wound and pledged to make endless sacrifices to the Serpent.

Devoted Marauders of Slaanesh are a Slaanesh and Daemons of Chaos melee infantry unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III.

Recruitment[]

Description[]

When the tribesmen of the Serpent sweep down from their northern climes to raid fairer lands, they, more than any other Marauders, debauch themselves with rape and pillage. Before raids and battles they quaff vast quantities of alcohol, and the consumption of rare hallucinogenic plants and roots is commonplace. This renders them mostly oblivious to pain or fear and encourages them to luxuriate in even the greatest dangers. Where the servants of Khorne care nothing for the pain and misery they inflict, the Serpent’s ensure their weapons are sharp to satisfy the cruel inventiveness of their twisted minds to toy with their victims before dispatching them.

Attributes[]

  • Sword Infantry
  • Shielded: Shields have a chance of blocking arrows, bolts, rifle shots and similar small arms fire - but only in a forward facing arc.
  • Anti-Infantry: Anti-infantry units have an advantage against targets that are smaller than a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against small targets, superior weight used to smash through lighter enemies, or an explosive attack from range that effects a large area.
  • Meat Shield: While unimpressive at causing damage, this unit is useful as a 'meat shield', absorbing damage that would otherwise hurt a more useful or precious target.

Strategy[]

Until you have the capacity to unlock Warriors and Chosen, Marauders are an absolutely essential element of a Slaaneshi army. They're cheap not-demons with shields, subsequently giving them the ability to tank a bit for your fast but extremely vulnerable shock troops. They will anchor for you while you're swinging everything else around the flanks.

In terms of which Marauders to use, these basic ones make a decent case for themselves since aside from being the cheapest are also the best generalists, doing a bit more AP damage than the Hellscourges and more damage overall than the Spears. A mix of all three is usually the thing to go for, but also keep an eye on what they're going to be fighting.
