Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

For the playable faction, see Eataine.

Eataine is a province which first appeared in Total War: Warhammer II.

In Mortal Empires (WH2) and Immortal Empires (WH3), playing as Eataine, they start here at Lothern.

In Mortal Empires, when playing as another faction, all settlements are controlled by Eataine.

In Eye of the Vortex, the Lothern settlement is moved to Straits of Lothern.

Background[]

Eataine is simply the hinterland of the vast city-state of Lothern, and first amongst the ten High Elf kingdoms of the island-continent of Ulthuan. It is the kingdom of the Phoenix - nowhere is the mighty bird more venerated. Indeed, Phoenixes -- the chosen messengers of the Elven god Asuryan - are popular symbols within the kingdom, often depicted as rising from the waves, for many of Eataine's folk believe it was only through the Creator God's intervention that Ulthuan was rescued from the ocean's chill embrace.

Eataine is the seat of the Phoenix King, and it is from here the current king Finubar rules with his Phoenix Court. The land is dotted with vineyards, villas and summer estates to which the noble families of the city of Lothern retire. Its prosperity is rooted in the Emerald Gate and the city of Lothern, one of if not the greatest merchant trading hub in the world.

Eataine's warriors are skilled with either the bow or the spear and are always excellently equipped with the finest armour and weapons. The nobles dress in splendid robes and often wear ornate armour decorated with precious gemstones and valuable metals. These warriors fight on land and sea and have detachments skilled in the use of Eagle Claw Bolt Throwers, which can be either mounted onboard or removed for use on land. The best warriors serve in the Lothern Sea Guard, a large body of infantry whose regiments are based in Lothern, but who also travel throughout the world with the Phoenix King's armies.

The nobility of Eataine is exceptionally proud. They point to the fact that several Phoenixes nest about their coastlines' clifftops and the fact that the kingdom has suffered considerably less during the six-millennia-long war against the Dark Elf Witch King Malekith, and that their land is the chosen domain of Asuryan, the king of the Elven Pantheon. Thus, all princes of Eataine consider themselves touched by the divine in one way or the other - a fact only exacerbated by the presence of the court of the Phoenix King in Lothern.
