Feral Ice Bears are a Dark Elves and
Kislev war beast unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III with Immortal Empires.
This unit can only be recruited by The Thousand Maws and
Daughters of the Forest factions. With Update 3.0,
Kislev can also use them in Skirmish vs A.I.

Description[ | ]
From head to haunch, the Ice Bear is a lumbering mass of muscle. Apex predators of the frosty north, tempered against the fringe of Chaos, these born-killers ambush their meals cloaked in snowy white. Frequent manhunters, stories of Kislevite forager parties going missing at the borders of an Ice Bear's range surface all too frequently.

- ▲ Armour-Piercing: The damage of
armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
- ▲ Anti-Large: Anti-Large: Anti-large units have an advantage against targets that are at least as large as a horse. This advantage can be a
damage bonus against large targets or an attack that focuses on a very small area. However, some units are simply better against large targets because their attacks are slow and easy to dodge by skilled melee combatants.
- ▲ Vanguard Deployment: This unit can deploy in an expanded deployment area, allowing it to start the battle within striking distance of the enemy - or somewhere unexpected.
- ▲ Chilling Aura: This unit is surrounded by an aura of freezing cold, slowing enemies who come too close.

Strategy[ | ]
Almost identical to normal Feral Bears, now with the Chilling Aura, allowing this unit to easily catch those pesky annoying skirmishing missile cavalry/chariots or an annoying seperated mounted spellcaster. Normal Feral Bears can do that but with the speed debuff from Chilling Aura, it's pretty much impossible for those units to get away this unit. You can use them for everything, ranging from flanking with the vanguard deployment, attacking enemy's large units/SEM,...as long as it doesn't involve fighting against an infantry unit with anti-large. Even if the bears aren't really "attacking" the mounted ranged skirmishers, as long as it's within the range of Chilling Aura and within your missile unit's range, they can also significantly destroy them considering the fact that the 2 factions that can access these 2 units have extremely powerful early-mid game missile units.
If the enemies have none of those types of units, might as well stick with normal Feral Bears, as they are cheaper and slightly tankier, allowing them to deal with normal cavalry without having to pay an extra 50-ish gold per turn.
