Description[]
Dark Elves hold no creature in higher esteem than the Manticore, for they believe it to be one of the thousand incarnations of Khaine; daring Beastmasters venture as far north as the Chaos Wastes in search of young Manticores to sell at auction. Manticores can be tamed enough to take a rider, though they remain feral. Even if a steed occasionally ignores its rider's commands and pitches them into unfavourable fights, a Dark Elf considers this a minor risk compared to the fear and respect brought about by bringing a fearsome mount to the fray.
Attributes[]
Flying Monster
- ▲ Causes Terror: This unit can cause terror, making its melee target rout for a short time. Units that cause terror are immune to terror and fear themselves.
- ▼ Rampage: When this unit gets hurt and enemies are nearby it might go on a rampage, attacking the closest enemy and ignoring any orders given.

Strategy[]
The Manticore is fairly unique in that it is a winged, Terror-causing SEM which is also cheap and easy to recruit. To counterweigh this, they are pretty weak all round - most anti-large SEMs will make short work of them - and have the awful Rampage! passive which will remove them from your control if they take too much damage. Nonetheless, just having them on the field will cause problems for the enemy, whether it's terror-routing infantry and ranged units, taking out artillery or simply drawing attention away from your more fragile troops. For this reason they're a good pick to simply fill out an army in a pinch, providing great distractions if nothing else. Again, unlike most other units in this category, their cheap and quick recruitment means it's no great loss if they die.
For Rakarth, they can make for a devastating stack option with his Apex predator perk.
