Feral Troglodon is a Lizardmen missile monster unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer II with The Silence & The Fury.
Recruitment[]
Lizardmen
Unlocked with: Pyramid of Itzl
Spirit of the Jungle
Unlocked with: Giant Beast Pit
Description[]
Without Skink Oracles to command them, the Feral Troglodon are even more vicious in their own right. Unburdened by a rider, they streak at the enemy with speed and power, firing their venomous spit at every foe before them, their poison sinking deep into the skin. As mounts, they are quick and able protectors, yet as a unit of their own, the Troglodon are as wild and unpredictable as they are fierce.
Attributes[]
Missile Monster
- ▲ Armour-Piercing: The damage of
armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
- ▲ Causes Terror: This unit can cause terror, making its melee target rout for a short time. Units that cause terror are immune to terror and fear themselves.
- ▲ Poison Attacks: The
poisonous attacks of this unit weaken the target's speed and damage and/or apply the Poison! debuff.
- ▼ Rampage: When this unit gets hurt and enemies are nearby it might go on a rampage, attacking the closest enemy and ignoring any orders given.

Strategy[]
The Feral Troglodon has a similar role to the Carnosaur but with somewhat different strengths. It is generally better at killing other large monsters or Lords due to its ranged poison attack. While lacking the anti-large bonus of the Carnosaur, the Troglodon can engage from a distance, has armor-piercing, and has poison to reduce the damage of its target. Depending on the target's melee defense, the Carnosaur might kill it faster but the Troglodon will kill it safer. However, targets with high melee defense may also get killed faster by the Troglodon. When it comes to the flanking role of the Carnosaur, the Troglodon seems a bit worse as its movement speed is slower and its attack animations seem a bit worse for killing clusters of archers or infantry.
When planning an army, the player may want to consider whether a Skink Oracle will be included since the Skink Oracle comes mounted on a Troglodon by default. This unit provides the same benefits while also bringing spells to the battlefield and being upgraded with equipment slots.
