Global Recruitment Is a mechanic where many factions can recruit units from outside the province where the Lord is located. This increases the cost and the number of turns needed to recruit them usually, but if one wants to recruit units far away from your military infrastructure this is the best way. Some lords gain bonuses for global recruitment (Tyrion, for example, reduces the number of turns needed for some High Elves units). Many factions tend to have a slightly different version of this mechanic.

Recruitment time[ | ]

Global recruitment of a unit, by default, takes double the time it takes for the unit to be recruited locally. For example, if a unit takes 2 turns to recruit locally, it will take 4 turns in global.

However, this can be reduced:

  • Some factions have a reduction to global recruitment time via research, lord traits and otherwise. For example, Wood Elves with Cytharai research get -1 to global recruitment time for all units.
  • For most factions, for every 10 provinces that can recruit a given unit, the global recruitment time is reduced by 1.
  • In Warhammer 3, 10 buildings that can recruit a given unit will reduce its global recruitment time by 1. For units that usually global recruit in 4 turns, 15 buildings are needed instead. Multiple buildings can be built in the same province and still count towards the reduction.

Alternative global recruitment mechanics[ | ]

Dark elves[ | ]

Instead of the global recruitment system, the dark elf races have the Black Arks, movable units with buildings, much like hordes, from which armies in the vicinity can recruit units provided they close enough to the Black Ark, indicated by the Black Ark radius.

Vampires[ | ]

The Vampire Counts and Vampire Coast have the raise dead mechanic with which they can instantly recruit units from battle sites. The Vampire Counts can only use the raise dead mechanic, while the Vampire Coast can utilize both the raise dead mechanic, as well as global recruitment.
