Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

Gnoblars are naturally attracted to the sling, which allows them to enact cruelty at a safe distance.

Gnoblar Flingers are an Ogre Kingdoms missile infantry unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III with Patch 6.1.

Recruitment[]

Description[]

Gnoblars are wicked creatures possessed of malicious but limited cunning. They are not-too-distant relatives of the Goblins that plague the world and are similar to their Greenskin cousins in height, with most specimens standing little taller than a man's waist. Gnoblars are cruel-minded, and their ability to do harm is only limited by their lack of physical strength. Ogres tolerate the creatures in their camps, especially if they make themselves useful by carrying and fetching things. In battle, a large group of Gnoblars can be, if not exactly formidable, then at least a bit dangerous.

Attributes[]

  • Missile Infantry
  • Expendable: This unit is comparably cheap to recruit, maintain and replenish.
  • Poor Accuracy: This unit's attacks are prone to go stray.
  • Poor Leadership: This unit suffers from poor leadership and will easily rout. Keep its flanks secure and your Lord or other encouraging units nearby.

Strategy[]

Gnoblar Flingers share much in common with Skavenslave Slingers: they are very bad, but they are a lot of very bad, and they are also dirt cheap. In fact in a head-to-head they handily defeat the Skavenslaves, so think about how many times you've found the latter unit to be more of a nuisance than it seemed it should have been, particularly when there's masses of them. Flingers have decent range and can be used to deal with unarmoured trash as well as cause pain to light flankers and flyers, allowing you to save your Ogre units for the bigger threats, and if they get pounced on that's them performing their essential role as cannon fodder. Overall a solid bargain unit for your early game, particularly if you bring enough to force the enemy to do something about them.

Replace them with Gnoblar Trappers (which is only slightly more expensive) whenever you can since they can outperform this unit with their stalk, their ability to slow enemies down while being slightly better in melee combat.

Bug[]

  • The Gnoblar Flingers display the incorrect unit tier (II).
