Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

Though it seems a miracle that this ramshackle catapult functions, its devastating firepower is not to be doubted.

Gnoblar Scraplauncher is an Ogre Kingdoms artillery unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III with the Ogre Kingdoms (DLC).

Recruitment[]

Description[]

The Gnoblar Scraplauncher is a large and unconventionally-built catapult pulled along by an enormous woolly beast. Its design is haphazard – the ramshackle construction seemingly built 'on the go' with a random collection of cast off materials. With each stride of its shaggy beast of burden, the jury-rigged device teeters precariously while a frenetic crew of Gnoblars swarm about – running alongside, clambering on its ropes and pulleys like sailors amongst the rigging, or just hanging on for dear life. For all its slovenly appearance, the Gnoblar Scraplauncher is a devastating engine of destruction.

Attributes[]

  • Catapult
  • Anti-Infantry: Anti-infantry units have an advantage against targets that are smaller than a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against small targets, superior weight used to smash through lighter enemies, or an explosive attack from range that effects a large area.
  • Collision Attacks: This unit deals additional attacks when colliding with enemies when charging.
  • Good Range: This unit has a larger range than most other units of the same class. This allows it to take out hostile missile units before they can come into firing range.
  • Weak Against Armour: This unit's attack can hardly punch through armour and is thus wasted on heavily armoured enemies.

Strategy[]

The Scraplauncher is a decent-ish artillery option which notably only requires a single turn to build, so like all Gnoblar units is a cheap and cheerful way of filling out an army in a pinch. Its payload is somewhat haphazard and so is best aimed at massed infantry, particularly any unarmored spearmen you see. It is not helpless in melee either: it can bash into enemies to do significant damage. Although this definitely shouldn't be the primary way you should utilize it, it does mean you are free to make riskier plays with it than you could most artillery.
