Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

Vicious enough to be useful but dim enough to be obedient, Gnoblars are commonly used as slaves, cannon fodder, ammunition or appetisers.

Gnoblars are an Ogre Kingdoms melee infantry unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III with Ogre Kingdoms (DLC).

Recruitment[]

Description[]

Gnoblars are wicked creatures possessed of malicious but limited cunning. They are not-too-distant relatives of the Goblins that plague the world and are similar to their Greenskin cousins in height, with most specimens standing little taller than a man's waist. Gnoblars are cruel-minded, and their ability to do harm is only limited by their lack of physical strength. Ogres tolerate the creatures in their camps, especially if they make themselves useful by carrying and fetching things. In battle, a large group of Gnoblars can be, if not exactly formidable, then at least a bit dangerous.

Attributes[]

  • Spear Infantry
  • Expendable: This unit is comparably cheap to recruit, maintain and replenish.
  • Meat Shield: While unimpressive at causing damage, this unit is useful as a 'meat shield', absorbing damage that would otherwise hurt a more useful or precious target.
  • Poor Leadership: This unit suffers from poor leadership and will easily rout. Keep its flanks secure and your Lord or other encouraging units nearby.

Strategy[]

Gnoblars are decent cannon fodder who can absorb missile fire that would otherwise be reserved for your painfully low-numbered Ogre units. Thanks to their high model count they can bog down and wrap around enemy units easily. They won't do much damage to anything, but that's not what they're for. Putting them near Ironguts will keep them from running away for a little while longer.

It's probably better to get Pigback Riders, as they do pretty much everything Gnoblars can but better. They even come with a little bit more of Charge Bonus.
