Goblin Archers can pepper the enemy from afar, with varying success.

Goblin Archers are a Greenskins missile infantry unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer.

Recruitment[]

Description[]

Goblins gather in great numbers under the tyranny of an Orc leader, or in widely-varying tribes of their own. Regardless of whether a Goblin is a lackey under the heel of a domineering Orc or the member of a distinct tribe, they make for lacklustre troops. However, Goblins can defeat an enemy through sheer weight of numbers, especially if they can attack from a flank or even better from behind. Goblins prefer to attack defenceless foes and shooting arrows from a distance is likewise a popular type of attack among their kind.

Attributes[]

  • Missile Infantry
  • Expendable: This unit is comparably cheap to recruit, maintain and replenish.
  • Weak Against Armour: This unit's attack can hardly punch through armour and is thus wasted on heavily armoured enemies.
  • Poor Leadership: This unit suffers from poor leadership and will easily rout. Keep its flanks secure and your Lord or other encouraging units nearby.

Scrap Upgrades[]

Ammo Skinsacks[]

Heavy Ammo[]

  • Cost: 20
  • Armour-piercing missile damage: +3
  • Technology Required: Sharper Stabbas

Strategy[]

Cheap and surprisingly effective. tier 1 Goblin unit that requires a tier 1 recruitment building. It is true "anti-large" and "damage-dealing" of cheap gobo armies. It plies the minimum stat constants to remain lethal into mid-game.

The most consequential upgrade for this unit is Heavy Ammo with scrap. This brings the minimum damage per projectile hit to 5 instead of 2 on any unit, minus shield block and missile resistance. Skill tree and research upgrades will improve damage and not have much effect on Goblin Archers. Their range is enough for 4-6 of them to annihilate any Treeman or Kin foolish enough to try and chew through gobos.
