Gorebeast Chariots are a Warriors of Chaos chariot unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer with the Chaos Warriors Race Pack.
Recruitment[ | ]
By upgrading Chaos Chariots to Gorebeast Chariots with the Warband Upgrades
WH1 - WH2[ | ]
Unlocked with: Daemonic Forge
Description[ | ]
Gorebeast Chariots are even heavier and sturdier than other Chaos Chariots. No normal beast would have the strength to pull such a massive instrument of war, and they are therefore pulled into battle by a Gorebeast - a muscular creature renowned for its violent temperament. These grunting brutes strike their prey with such shocking force that those not impaled upon jutting armour spikes are torn apart by the impact. Even the lowliest of beasts recognise the bulky shape of a Gorebeast as synonymous with death. Each iron-clad chariot drawn by one of these formidable mutants is thus followed, at some distance, by circling carrion crows and slinking scavenger hounds waiting to feast on the bloody remnants of a Gorebeast's Grim harvest.
Attributes[ | ]
Monstrous Chariot
- ▲ Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from
Armour-Piercing damage.
- ▲ Armour-Piercing: The damage of
armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
- ▲ Anti-Infantry: Anti-infantry units have an advantage against targets that are smaller than a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against small targets, superior weight used to smash through lighter enemies, or an explosive attack from range that effects a large area.
Strategy[ | ]
The Gorebeast Chariot is a high mass, high charge bonus chariot unit that can bulldoze through even armoured infantry, as with all chariots, you should be exploiting the extremely good Charge Bonus and cycle charge the enemy frontline, ripping and tearing the enemy infantry as you go, they can somewhat hold up in melee with a big health pool for each model but sustained combat is unwise against the more heavily armoured and Anti-Large infantry units like Halberdiers or Silverin Guard. With Blood for the Blood God (It's a DLC, I know, annoying), you can watch these abominations charge through the enemy line, spraying blood and severed limbs all over the place, surely earning it's name!
In conclusion, the high mass of the Gorebeasts allows them to charge mostly unopposed through all kinds of infantry with the exception of units like Chosen (Halberds) or other tanky infantry with Anti-Large. Although the Gorebeast and the riders are more than capable of fighting stationary, it's obviously recommended to use the Chariot with high charge bonus to charge.
