Granite Hills is a province introduced in Total War: Warhammer III, located in Naggaroth.
Background[]
Though it is a cold and hostile place, there is technically plenty of land in Naggaroth that could be turned to the purpose of civilisation, and the Dark Elves abundantly have the means to do so. That they don't is tribute to the spiteful nature of their culture. Those that seek to gain power outside of seizing it from another, through the humble means of taming and working new land for instance, are viewed as weak and marked as targets.
So it is that there are many areas like the Granite Hills in Naggaroth: sheltered hinterlands of great cities such as Karond Kar and Hag Graef that appear ripe for development, but are instead lonely wildernesses, save for baleful watchtowers such as Blacklight Tower, and monuments to wanton cruelty like The Monoliths, where Morathi has Sorceresses she deems to have grown too powerful petrified into black obelisks.
As is often the case the Druchii's obsessive spitefulness is destructive unto themselves, because without such convenient wilderness it is doubtful that Alith Anar and his Shadow Warriors would be able to wage such an effective guerilla war against them as they have. But they do so, hunting their Nagarythian brethren with unrelenting ruthlessness, and so the elven civil war rages on here century after century.
