Victims find out too late that the enchanting creature gliding towards them is not a woman, but a savage, rabid beast!

Harpies are a Beastmen Beastmen war beasts unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer with Update 5.

Recruitment[ | ]

Description[ | ]

Harpies are particularly loathsome Children of Chaos, winged creatures with a body that is a parody of a human woman. From a distance they may appear lithe and shapely, even darkly alluring, yet as they close their true nature becomes clear. A Harpy’s face is distorted and twisted, with nothing of humanity or intelligence in its eyes, only instinctive cruelty. Its lips are not those of a woman, but are twisted and leering, pulled back to reveal needle-like teeth dripping with blood and saliva. The creature’s limbs are not soft or shapely, but hard and possessed of tendons like steel, that lend it preternatural speed and agility.

Harpies are a flying unit with a surprisingly high melee defense stat, which puts them into more of a supporting role compared to other flying units. They also have the advantage of being playable in both the Beastmen and Dark Elves factions. While both of these factions have very different play-styles, Harpies have found a way to help both factions achieve their goals.

In a Beastmen army, Harpies are best served as mobile holding units. They're great for keeping pesky spearmen in place while your flanking units rush around the frontline. They also serve the tried-and-true purpose of harassing unprotected ranged infantry and artillery units.

In the Dark Elves roster, Harpies are best used for interrupting cavalry charges to allow your frontline more time to grind down the enemy, or to give your ranged units time to take out the flanking unit before it can damage your backline.
