Large sleds drawn by the fiercest of War Bears pack a crushing punch when pulled at speed into ordered enemy battlelines.

Heavy War Sleds are a Kislev Kislev chariot unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III.

Description[ | ]

The heavier War Sleds of Kislev are the Motherland’s answer to the Empire’s War Wagons. They are beautifully carved from timbers harvested from the great forests, and reinforced with metal scales to protect their occupants. A combination of mancatchers, poleaxes, glaives and spears grant them deadly impact in melee combat, while handguns ensure that they can pack a punch at range. These War Sleds also carry an abundance of extra shot for prolonged campaigns.

  • Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from Modifier icon armour piercingArmour-Piercing damage.
  • Armour-Piercing: The damage of Modifier icon armour piercingarmour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
  • Anti-Infantry: Anti-infantry units have an advantage against targets that are smaller than a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against small targets, superior weight used to smash through lighter enemies, or an explosive attack from range that effects a large area.
  • Collision Attacks: This unit deals additional attacks when colliding with enemies when charging.

Strategy[ | ]

Heavy War Sleds have a significant drop in speed, minor improvements in Melee Attack, Melee Defense, and Charge Bonus, and a large boost to armor. They are therefore superior to Light War Sleds against any enemy whose main damage output is relatively low in armor penetration. However, when facing opponents whose units are Tier 3 and above, this is quite rare; most elite units, regardless of faction, are heavy in armor penetration. So Light Sleds are usually the superior choice, especially since like chariots they require significant micro and it's unwise to have more than a small handful of them on the battlefield at one time.
