A carriage adorned with reaping blades which slice Slaanesh's foes into delicate morsels, their suffering driving its riders into a rapturous frenzy.

Hellflayers are a Slaanesh and Daemons of Chaos chariot unit in Total War: Warhammer III.

Recruitment[]

Description[]

The Dark Prince of Chaos prides himself on the splendour of his decadent realm. Alas, the constant warfare and anarchy that so defines the Realm of Chaos has ever worked against Slaanesh's pursuit of perfection by leaving battle-slain corpses littered across his lands like the petals of a particularly repulsive plant. Thus do the Hellflayers ride hither and yon across the alabaster plains, their reaping blades cutting and slicing the distaff flesh into small pieces that Slaanesh's otherworldly flora can easily devour.

Attributes[]

  • Chariots
  • Armour-Piercing: The damage of armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
  • Anti-Infantry: Anti-infantry units have an advantage against targets that are smaller than a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against small targets, superior weight used to smash through lighter enemies, or an explosive attack from range that effects a large area.
  • Very Fast: This unit can run circles around most other units, taunting and harrassing the enemy or evading its missile fire.

It's your average typical chariot: Horrible at sustained melee combat, devastating charge bonuses. The Soulscent ability encourages you to charge into ranged units or into rear to inflict wavering so that the ability can be triggered. This unit is purely anti-infantry.

It's probably better to stick with Heartseekers of Slaanesh or Chaos Knight of Slaanesh, since they are in the same-ish tier of building and cost around the same, as they are more or less versatile and less clunky than the Chariots but if you really love Chariots and can micro-manage effectively, this unit might be just worth it.
