Description[ | ]

Slaanesh finds the desperation of mortals exhilarating, especially in those who possess neither the strength nor the cunning to succeed. To these weak-willed men, Slaanesh whispers a dark bargain – power, but at a price. The Dark Prince sends a Steed of Slaanesh to these mortals, offering the creature as a gift to carry him from one glorious victory to the next. In exchange, Slaanesh asks only that his enemies' souls are sacrificed to him. However, once they sit astride the Daemonic steed, they will never again dismount. Though they do not yet realise it, they have just become Slaanesh's willing slaves.

Attributes[ | ]

  • Wh3 main sla steed spear Spear Cavalry
  • Anti-Large: Anti-Large: Anti-large units have an advantage against targets that are at least as large as a horse. This advantage can be a Modifier icon bonus vs largedamage bonus against large targets or an attack that focuses on a very small area. However, some units are simply better against large targets because their attacks are slow and easy to dodge by skilled melee combatants.
  • Very Fast: This unit can run circles around most other units, taunting and harrassing the enemy or evading its missile fire.
  • Poison Attacks: The Modifier icon poisonpoisonous attacks of this unit weaken the target's speed and damage and/or apply the Poison! debuff.

Strategy[ | ]

Given they only need a level 1 building for Slaanesh to recruit, Hellstriders are some of the best light cavalry in the game, and can cause absolute havoc for you in the early game. They outpace pretty much everything, which coupled with their anti-large attribute make them awful for other types of cavalry to deal with, unless very well armoured. With their speed and vanguard deployment you can have them around the back of the enemy within seconds of a battle beginning, and they even have a shield to give them some protection against the sort of ranged units you're going to want to send them crashing into. With a bit of micro you can kite the enemy into twisting themselves around trying to engage them, giving your foot troops a better chance of closing the gap without taking too much damage.

They are overall an excellent investment, and as long as you keep them away from spears they will continue to do a job for you until you replace them with Seekers of Slaanesh.
