Hobgoblin Wolf Raiders (Spears) are a Chaos Dwarfs melee cavalry unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III with Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs.
Recruitment[]
Unlocked with: Hobgoblin Bivouacs
Description[]
Drawn from the nomadic tribes and isolated warbands that roam the fringes of the Dark Lands, wolf-mounted Hobgoblins are commonly employed by Chaos Dwarf armies as swift-moving scouts and light battle cavalry. Raiders and robbers by disposition, they get lured into service as mercenaries, but are effectively treated no better than unpaid servants by their new Lords. They are, if anything, more skittish and even less reliable than their unmounted counterparts, but this tendency is deemed to be outweighed somewhat by their usefulness in the raiding expeditions that travel into unfamiliar and hostile lands, where their mobility can often provide a stark advantage.
Attributes[]
Cavalry
- ▲ Very Fast: This unit can run circles around most other units, taunting and harrassing the enemy or evading its missile fire.
- ▲ Vanguard Deployment: This unit can deploy in an expanded deployment area, allowing it to start the battle within striking distance of the enemy - or somewhere unexpected.
- ▼ Weak Against Armour: This unit's attack can hardly punch through armour and is thus wasted on heavily armoured enemies.
Unit Abilities[]
Passive Abilities[]
Strategy[]
Fundamentally the same as Goblin Wolf Riders, Hobgoblin Wolf Raiders cost more and do their job slightly better than their Greenskins counterparts. Their incredible speed means that as long as you keep an eye on them you can pick whatever fight you want for them, which should be light ranged troops and distracted, lightly armoured infantry. They are at their best being cycle-charged into the back of non-elite infantry that your front line has engaged, where they will get both of their passives working for them.
