Ironblaster is an Ogre Kingdoms artillery unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III with the Ogre Kingdoms (DLC).
Recruitment[]
Unlocked with: Bestest Weapon Pile or Iron Smelter
Description[]
One of the castle-mounted guns the Sky-titans used towards the end of their war against the Ogres. Such is the weight of the vast contraption that the Rhinox which pulls it grunts and strains under the pressure, and even the stone wheels that hold it up can only last for a few battles before cracking under the immense weight. Its multiple cannon balls are able to tear apart a whole regiment in a maelstrom of noise and violence, especially should the lronblaster get in close.
Attributes[]
Siege Artillery
- ▲ Armour-Piercing: The damage of
armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
- ▲ Collision Attacks: This unit deals additional attacks when colliding with enemies when charging.
- ▲ Anti-Infantry: Anti-infantry units have an advantage against targets that are smaller than a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against small targets, superior weight used to smash through lighter enemies, or an explosive attack from range that effects a large area.
Unit Abilities[]
Passive Abilities[]
Strategy[]
Thanks to the Ogre's camp system it takes longer than usual to access these Tier 5 artillery pieces, compensated by the fact they are extraordinarily powerful. There are a few artillery units which outrange them, but none of those fire five projectiles at once with each shot carrying more than 1,000 missile damage. They will pulverise anything you point them at barring fast skirmisher units and small single entities. They are no mugs in melee either; the mount can smash light infantry or cavalry that the enemy might try and get at them with. These are army melters, and so long as you have the heroes/lords to deal with single entities you can easily build doomstacks with them and clean the board in the late game.
