Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

The living embodiment of Cathay's nigh-impregnable Great Bastion, for few enemies can hope to breach their armoured line.

Jade Warriors (Halberds) are a Grand Cathay melee infantry unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III.

Recruitment[]

Description[]

Grand Cathay is a land in harmony with the world around it, with every soldier knowing their place in the grand designs of the Celestial Dragon Emperor. Known as the Harmony of Stone and Steel, this perfect alignment of purpose and will expresses itself in the discipline of the armies of the Dragons. Armed with polearms, crossbows and equipped with heavy armour and shields, Jade Warriors are the bastion upon which the enemy breaks, be they defending their city’s walls or at the very centre of the Cathayan battle line.

Attributes[]

  • Halberd Infantry
  • Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from Armour-Piercing damage.
  • Harmony: Yang: This unit counts as a Yang unit and gains increased melee defence and leadership when near Yin units.
  • Armour-Piercing: The damage of armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
  • Anti-Large: Anti-Large: Anti-large units have an advantage against targets that are at least as large as a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against large targets or an attack that focuses on a very small area. However, some units are simply better against large targets because their attacks are slow and easy to dodge by skilled melee combatants.

Strategy[]

The halberdier variant of Jade Warriors are more vulnerable to ranged attacks due to their lack of shields. Thus, they should be replaced with Celestial Dragon Guard when finances allow.
