Nothing irks these fighting men of Kislev more than the forces of Chaos, but "people from the south" come a close second…

Kislevite Warriors is a Kislev Kislev melee infantry unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III, added with Patch 4.2.0 to Shadows of Change.

Recruitment[ | ]

  • Construction Unlocked with: Village, Village (Minor), Erengrad (Village), Kislev (Nascent City) or Praag (Cursed City)

Description[ | ]

The grim and hardy appearance of these men of the oblast tell tales of a lifetime of endured struggles. For nothing matters more to Kislevite Warriors than the defence of the Motherland against the insidious forces of the Ruinous Powers and the preservation of a way of life stretching back many centuries – tasks they undertake with grim determination and armed with razor-sharp halberds. They are deeply religious, cherishing the traditional Kislevite gods, but chiefly Ursun, the Bear-God, from whom they surely draw their strength in combat. Such men are also extremely loyal to the Tzar and his family, whom they consider to be important symbols of Kislev just as much as Father Bear himself.

Attributes[ | ]

  • Infantry spear halberd Halberd Infantry
  • Armour-Piercing: The damage of Modifier icon armour piercingarmour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
  • Anti-Large: Anti-Large: Anti-large units have an advantage against targets that are at least as large as a horse. This advantage can be a Modifier icon bonus vs largedamage bonus against large targets or an attack that focuses on a very small area. However, some units are simply better against large targets because their attacks are slow and easy to dodge by skilled melee combatants.
  • Charge Defence Against Large Foes: When standing and bracing against a charge of large enemies (such as cavalry or monsters) this unit will negate the enemy's charge bonus.

Strategy[ | ]

Comparatively to Kossars, Kislevite Warriors trade a ranged attack for being a better front line, with anti-large, anti-armor and high melee defence all making them a pretty formidable defensive wall in the early game. Indeed the unit they most resemble are Empire Halberdiers, falling only a little short of that standard; but unlike Halberdiers they're available directly from any Kislev settlement, making them superb units to fill out an army in a pinch. A good strategy is to position Kossars and other hybrid units behind them, then have these units replace the Warriors in the front line as they get beaten up or flee.

Kislevite Warriors are also a great filler troop, if you have space in your early game army, it's good to add some Kislevite Warriors into the cauldron of war, as they can protect your missile troops at the flanks, much like the previously mentioned Halberdiers, they are very effective against the terrifying early game Norscan Ice Trolls which can tear through your troops, rout, heal and return just as strong save for a few missing models, Kislevite Warriors can rout the Trolls until your Kossovite Dervishes, Winged Lancers, Horse Archers or really any fast moving large units can bog them down and kill them while they retreat, Horse Archers can also just straight up fight them alone, since their speed will keep the Trolls away while they exploit their low armour, disintegrating their health pool.

In conclusion, Kislevite Warriors make very good early game halberd infantry and can help keep tough enemies like Trolls out of your mind, they can also hold their own against Marauders, but don't expect any massive end game battle honours from them in the late stages of the campaign, at that point your Anti-Large should be coming from your Streltsi checkerboards, since guns tend to do catastrophic damage to single-entity enemies like Monsters or small groups of Monstrous Infantry.
