Description[]
Designed by Gunnery School Engineer, Hezekiah Guttman, the Marienburg Land Ship was proposed as a whimsical boat-shaped alternative to a Steam Tank. As much a project of vanity as one of defence, the end product was a grotesquely-sized, hulking contraption of war, dubbed "The Wonder of the Age" by the provost-marshal of the Imperial Gunnery School. Hastily mimicked designs later commissioned by Imperial forces never quite matched the awesome firepower of the first Land Ship, though it has not stopped them rolling to war when their great expense can be spared. Traversing battlefields on huge, sturdy wheels, Land Ships dwarf the men that fight beside them, providing devastating firepower for the Imperial war effort.
Attributes[]
War Machine
- ▲ Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from
Armour-Piercing damage.
- ▲ Armour-Piercing: The damage of
armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
- ▲ Fire Whilst Moving: This unit can fire while on the move.

Strategy[]
A bizarre and truly unique unit, the Land Ship is best described as a chariot-artillery hybrid. Its main weapon is a standard cannon with which it can do decent if not overwhelming damage, which is best aimed at heavy infantry or slow-moving SEMs. Most of the Empire's other artillery outshine it, but none of the Empire's other artillery can energetically waddle around, continuing to fire as it does. In this sense the Land Ship is quite similar to a Iron Daemon – Dreadquake Mortar, able to defend itself if an enemy draws close by ramming them and having the crew do decent chip damage as well. It has a very similar active to the Iron Daemon as well, which it will need to cleanly plough through melee combatants and avoid getting bogged down in prolonged combat, where it will suffer.
It's difficult to say precisely what niche the Land Ship occupies pragmatically, however it's pretty effective against aggressive enemies who will seek to flank your back line, either offering an easy reposition or going straight through them.
