Lying between the major cities of Nan-Gau and Wei-Jin, the Lands of Stone and Steel are a populous and industrious area of northern Cathay. Stone and steel are the divine matters of state, one of the great harmonies by which Grand Cathay lives and dies by: stone represents structure, foundation and planning, steel represents action, reactiveness and initiative. In this province they are understood quite literally, because Po Mei is famous for its production of fine marble, Weng Chang for its iron mines. As well as the salvaging operation at the Terracotta Graveyard, the smooth running of this industry is integral to the foundries of Nan-Gau and the walls of the Great Bastion to the north.
