Light War Sleds are a
Kislev chariot unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III.
Recruitment[]
Unlocked with: Toolmaker or Ice Witch Quarters
Description[]
In times of winter, the armies of Kislev must still range far and wide across brutal, snow-blasted terrain. For this reason, the Kislevite armies are often supported by War Sleds. Loaded with supplies, especially black powder and shot, they trail behind rotas of Winged Lancers or regiments of Kossar warriors. War Sleds are crewed by sturdy veterans who can be trusted to stand their ground, drawn from the ranks of the Streltsi and Kossars alike.
Attributes[]
Missile Sled- ▲ Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from
Armour-Piercing damage. - ▲ Armour-Piercing: The damage of
armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets. - ▲ Anti-Infantry: Anti-infantry units have an advantage against targets that are smaller than a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against small targets, superior weight used to smash through lighter enemies, or an explosive attack from range that effects a large area.
- ▲ Collision Attacks: This unit deals additional attacks when colliding with enemies when charging.

Strategy[]
Light War Sleds are a core strength of the Kislev mid-game, and can be transformative to your tactics and your fortunes overall. They are reasonably fast, can fire while moving and in a 360 degree angle, attributes that make them devastating harassers, picking off monstrous infantry and other high value targets from the flank, or crashing through infantry on the charge. Light flankers like hounds and Marauder Horsemen will not be able to deal with them; the enemy has to commit fast anti-large to stop them, a relatively rare sub-type, or plenty of ranged of their own.
Light War Sleds then make for excellent distractions or bait, drawing heavy hitters away from your front line and potentially into ambushes. They play well with Akshina Ambushers, who can form devastating hidden killboxes, or even simply spearmen hiding in treelines for those pesky heavy cavalry.
Heavy War Sleds have less speed in exchange for much more armor. In most circumstances this is not a great trade-off since the real value of the sleds is in their manueverability, and Light War Sleds should remain your go-to.
