Magical attacks are one of the damage channel attacks and which cause damage to ignore armour and physical resistance.
You can check whether a damage channel has magical attacks enabled or not by locating a icon next to the melee attack stat for melee damage or next to the ammunition stat for missile damage. In addition, it can be accumulated with flaming attacks. As magical attacks are not considered a contact effect, it can stack with one contact effect, such as Poison!.
This type of damage can only be reduced with magic resistance or ward save. As a result, magical attacks can be particularly devastating against heavily armoured units, such as the Dwarfs' Hammerers, and those with high physical resistance, such as ethereal units like the Vampire Counts' Cairn Wraiths.
Magical attacks can be innate to an unit, usually elite, or enabled with mostly rarer ancillaries, such as items and banners, and abilities. A few notable examples are given below - not a comprehensive list!
