Description[]
Powered by thick haunches of purest muscle, a Mournfang surges towards the foe at a speed faster than their muscle-bulked frames would suggest, not slowed in the least by the large Ogre or saddle atop its hairy back. Protected by thick skin and coarse shaggy hair, enemy arrows bounce off the oncoming beast or ping off the Ogre's armour, as harmless as hailstones. When they do smash into an enemy, the powerful Mournfangs chomp, slash and stamp the foe whilst the Ogres lay about them, swinging ponderous clubs to bludgeon them.
Attributes[]
Monstrous Cavalry
- ▲ Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from
Armour-Piercing damage.
- ▲ Armour-Piercing: The damage of
armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
Strategy[]
With good stats but low model count, these play somewhat like low-quality Demigryph knights. Avoid spearmen and halberds, but otherwise these cavalry can be high impact charging into the backs of armored infantry, hunting down archers and artillery in the backfield, or even attacking lords and heroes since their mass helps them to block and trap individual characters. They will not perform efficiently in sustained combat, especially if it gives your opponent time to move some spears into them. Keep them moving and terrorize the battlefield.
- Notably, this unit does not have the Ogre charge ability that other Ogre units do.
