Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

Nongchang Basin is a province introduced in Total War: Warhammer III, located in Far East.

Background[]

A fertile, low lying area of the Celestial Riverlands, Nongchang Basin is known as Grand Cathay's rice bowl. There are millions of hungry mouths to feed in Cathay's great cities, and boats loaded low in the water with produce are ceaselessly sailed and pulled from this province along the rivers and canals to all points of the empire. To lose it would be a crippling blow to the dragons, as was felt keenly during the Time of Darkness and Disharmony, when the Monkey King seized Southern Cathay.

Such was the despair felt at all levels of society at that time a group of peasants in Shiyama's Rest reverted to shamanistic practices, offering sacrifices to the great standing stones that have always stood near the town. This had the effect of summoning a host of Bloodletters, who butchered the entire populace. It was tragedies and Chaotic incursions such as these that ultimately united the feuding dragon siblings against the Monkey King, and forced him out of Cathay entirely. The standing stones can still be found outside Shiyama's Rest, testament to the power that might be, and could be once again.
