Pieces of Eight are cursed trinkets that have so completely twisted and altered the minds of those that first found them that their fate is now tied to the coins. By securing one of the Pieces of Eight, the services of the warriors bound to them may be secured also.

General information[]

  • Each Piece of Eight is connected to a unique Regiment of Renown.
  • By securing one of the Pieces of Eight, the Regiment of Renown bound to it becomes available for recruitment.
  • Pieces of Eight may be secured by defeating Rogue Pirates or completing certain quests.
  • The known locations of Pieces of Eight may be seen on the Pieces of Eight panel.
  • Only the pirate Lords of the Vampire Coast may collect Pieces of Eight.

Rogue Pirate List[]

Legends tell of mighty pirate fleets that terrorize the Great Ocean raiding ports and shipping routes for anything of worth. These are Rogue Pirates: hardened veterans of the sea who visit death and ruination on those they plunder. Rogue Pirate fleets often employ troops from many different races, making them a challenge to defeat in Battle.

Defeating Rogue pirates in battle with provide the pirates of the Vampire Coast with much infamy. Rogue Pirates will often also surrender Treasure Maps or Pieces of Eight when defeated in battle. Rogue Pirates can be found throughout the various seas and oceans.

Pieces of Eight[]

  • The Vorgo Nugget: "High above Manann's ocean realm, in the place them landlubbers call the Southern Grey Mountains, thar be a place wiv vast seams o' gold ore known as the Vorgo Crags. None be brave enough to mine 'em though, 'cause o' the coldness an' the evil things that wander the place... the only piece o' Vorgo gold known to exist outside the mountains was carried out by the single survivor of a doomed minin' expedition, the rest of 'em bein' taken by slow, painful starvation before the evil mountain Winds made somethin' unspeakable out of 'em."
  • The Stone of Schwartzhafen: "The magic that too ol' Nyklaus von Carstein out o' Sylvania needed more than just some powerful juju an' a titanic will... some magic trinkets were also used to bolster 'is energies, one bein' the mysterious Stone o'Schwartzhafen. They say it contains the souls of the great fallen warriors o'Sylvania from afore the von Carstein's time. Alas, the stone got lost after the Bloody Reaver had an 'ole ripped in 'er hull by the Heldenhammer's broadside, tragically spillin' some booty into the sea."
  • Von Zeich's Last Ingot: "Thar be no sailor alive who don't know the tale of Cap'n Vangheist. A Wizard named Albrechtus von Zeich had paid 'im in ingots o' the purest gold to provide passage through the sea o'Chaos, but when von Zeich refused the cap'n's ambitions to get the secrets of immortality from the Realm o'Chaos itself, he got shot. Sailin' on right out o' the mortal plane, Vangheist an' 'is crew left their bodies an' material things behind, includin' the ship's cursed cargo - its fate remains unknown..."
  • Panteleon's Pendant: "Panteleon was an old Knight o'Quenelles, where those Bretonnian landlubbers are in cahoots with the Elves of the neighbourin' forest. They say 'e wore a piece o'Athel Loren amber round 'is neck - imbued with powers it was, could even bring life to dead flesh! Sadly, 'twas lost when the fool sailed to the Vampire Coast to take on a shoal o' Prometheans... Panteleon slaughtered 'em, but the crabs eventually dragged 'im off 'is ship an' pincered 'im to pieces. But 'is ship, the Lamprey, survived."
  • The Pearl of the Kraken Sea: "Jus' north o' Norsca thar be a little-known expanse of ocean called the Kraken Sea. It is important to them crackpot Northmen o' the nearby coastline of Skjold, who drop the remains of their fallen warriors there. T'them, there be great favour to be had bein' eaten up by those mutated sea-monsters of Chaos, but some of the souls are rejected by the fickle Gods, marooned underwater an' forsaken 'til the right juju gets 'em up an' killin' again."
  • Lucky Levi's Keepsake: "The pirate known as Lucky Levi met 'is end at the 'ands of 'is own men after dabblin' in black magic with 'is lucky rabbit's foot. The fool was tryin' to raise Zombie Deckhands for his crew, but 'is first mate was not best pleased at bein' replaced by the walkin' dead, an' so shivved his cap'n while he slept. But Levi's Undead mob continued to serve their master, throwin' the first mate an' the rest of the livin' crew overboard an' scuppered Levi's ship."
  • The Doubloon of Castelo Novo: "Make no mistake, a swarm o' Fell Bats at sea always ends in blood-soaked waters. As the pirate cap'n Salazar sailed his ship the Salt Lord up the cursed coast of Mousillon, carryin' a single rare Estalian shilin' swiped from the castle-port o' Castelo Novo, the blood-suckin' monsters attacked, killin' cap'n an' crew in seconds. They say the evil things made their home amongst the rotting corpses an' tattered sails of the driftin' vessel, but the Salt Lord was ne'er seen by mortal eyes again."
  • The Cursed Bullion of Bogenhafen: "One fateful day, a mysterious hooded stranger arrived in the landlubbers' town o' Bogenhafen. The whispers were sayin' that a powerful conjurer was runnin' from the Witch Hunters, which turned out to be true after the stranger was robbed of his magic bullion by a trickster merchant. Turned out this stranger was not to be trifled with, as 'e vengefully conjured up the terrifyin' monster called the 'Gallows Giant", a fire-spittin' abomination o' corpses fused to ship-torn timber that burned Bogenhafen to the ground."
