Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

Plains of Xen is a province introduced in Total War: Warhammer III, located in Far East.

Background[]

East of Imperial Road are the Plains of Xen, a flat and dry expanse which in turn borders the Northern Straits of the Jade Sea. Although the Great Bastion does not extend far enough eastwards to shield this province from the Chaos Wastes, it is protected to the north by the vast Dragon River. Said to contain the Spirit Dragon, Xen Yang's deceased eldest daughter, it causes death to any who enters its waters.

The threat to this province is more mundane than Chaos, although no less fearful. Since they became aware of it across the Boiling Sea, the Dark Elves have regarded Grand Cathay as a soft and rich target for their pirate fleets. Indeed, it was through such raids that the Fellheart family rose to wealth and prominence; Lokhir's ancestor Laithikir sold the charts she made shadowing High Elf trade ships to the Far East before raiding up and down the coast. At the unfortunate northern port now known only as Khairith Irlean, the Druchii encircled the walls to bar all escape, and then unleashed Witch Elves inside. When the Cathayan relief army arrived, it found such a disturbing scene within the blood-soaked ruin that the city was razed and all mention of it stricken from the records. The Dark Elves have only grown more bold since then.
