Strategy[ | ]
- In Immortal Empires, the Poxmakers have one major problem: Helman Ghorst. The Vampire Count is one of the major powers near Ku'gath's starting location and will quickly balloon into an existential threat, with a rough timetable to wipe him out being 15 turns from the start (consider wiping out the lizards by turn 6 for a power boost). Essentially, as soon as you have a few levels on Ku'gath and some decent units, bumrush Helman and defeat him (manual battle is preferable, since VC have tremendous power on paper, less so in manual if you break morale). The ideal route is to hold down his trash stacks with your own basic units, and use Ku'gath and whatever elites you have to kill Ghorst before his units kill you. Afterwards, beeline for his settlements to wipe him out.
- As of Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs, Nurgle's spawn location is more favorable, but more volatile. While his starting island is somewhat defensible, by the time you take the island Helman Ghorst and Drazhoath the Ashen will have taken most of the rest of the territory that was occupied by minor factions. Drazhoath does make an incredibly valuable ally, but he won't give you any settlements. Eliminating Ghorst while Drazhoath is too distracted to come and pick up the scraps is very important, as Drazhoath will not hesitate to declare war on Ghorst if Ghorst is weakened. Since you and Drazhoath are both Chaos factions, he, and the other Chaos Dwarfs if they end up conquering him, are the only allies you can find anywhere near you.
- Beast of Nurgle and Ku'gath can be very powerful assets in the fight against Ghorst. An additional consideration is that the AI is not using Ghorst as effectively as a human player and it's relatively easy to split his army up, allowing the trash mobs to get picked apart. It's even easier if you can bait Ghorst into attacking a settlement, since defensive towers absolutely shred his units (and Ghorst).
