Regeneration or Healing effects are a group of spells and abilities that restore the hit points of a given unit. It is one of the most common effects in the game and available to virtually all races in one shape or form.

As a result, and to prevent it from being overpowering, all regenerative effects draw from a capped pool of healing unit points, i.e. 2/3 of the unit's maximum hit points . This means no unit can heal forever and it can never heal more than 2/3 of its maximum hit points at the start of a battle. Spells that temporarily increase the hit points will not increase the pool of healing points. In addition to the healing cap, a unit cannot ever have more models in it than the amount it started with at the beginning of the battle, and most healing cannot revive dead models regardless. Spells capable of resurrection will not bring a unit to above the model count it had before the battle started, as your soldiers did not bring the corpses of their comrades along for you to resurrect later. This is show as the healing cap being firmly halted wherever your unit's health started. While the healing cap indicator says the max remaining healing the unit can receive is 0, once your unit takes damage it can be healed as normal.

There are some ways that this healing cap can be boosted for specific units, but it will always be a hard limit.

In Total War: Warhammer III, all healing effects have been converted to a percentage of the maximum health per second from a flat value.[1] However, the two previous games remain unaffected.

You can check how big the pool of healing points is and how many are left by clicking on the unit card in battle and hovering the mouse over the icon on the right. It is also displayed as an orange line marker on the HP bar in the army display, though this line also accounts for model limits and is therefore more useful on single model units.

  • Chain Regeneration: This regeneration effect jumps from a nearby friendly unit to another, up to a limit.
