Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

Ropsmenn Clan is a Kislev faction introduced in Total War: Warhammer III.

Background[]

The Roppsmenn, are a virtually extinct ethnic group of semi-nomadic Men who once claimed the lands north-west of Kislev before their eventual decline as a tribe and a people. They were known to wear patterned cloaks of red and green with heads shaven except for long braids at their ears. Each fighting man was armoured in a mail vest and bore a small wooden buckler and a wide-bladed sword or scimitar into battle.

The Roppsmen lived for centuries within the hostile lands of the Troll Country, coexisting with their Ungol cousins to the east. However, when the Gospodars invaded Kislev, the Ungols were forced into the Troll Country and fought their former allies among the Roppsmenn for dominance. Having ruled the Roppsmenn before, the Ungols quickly gained the upper hand in the wars they were now forced to fight for territory. This is considered the time when the Roppsmenn as a people became extinct as the Ungols proceeded to completely absorb their survivors into their own culture.

However, there are still scattered bands of horse tribes in the Troll Country who claim to be the living descendants of the original Roppsmenn. Remnants of the Roppsmenn live in the "Old Town" of Praag, in the so-called "Roppsmen Ghetto." The Ropsmenn Clan were influenced by The Great Orthodoxy, so they are hostile against Tzarina Katarin.

The Realm of Chaos

This is one of two starting opponents for you if you are playing as The Ice Court. They are located to the north of your location.

It is recommended to fight the Vanaheimlings before fighting this faction, so you can gain extra Devotion. If you choose to fight the Ropsmenn Clan first, you empty your Devotion and risk attracting more dangerous raids from Norscan and Daemonic armies.

If playing as The Great Orthodoxy, it is recommended to try and befriend the Ropsmenn clan as fast as possible. Due to them holding the city of Praag, the player can easily confederate them into their faction. You will then have another capital city under your belt. How difficult this can be varies on how much of a focus the Ice Court pushes on removing them.

Immortal Empires

Odds are they'll most likely be left alone until turn 10-20 ish with Vanaheimlings or/and Disciples of Hashut declaring war on them. Usually, it's the Vanaheimlings that declare war on them first. If playing as the nearby Kislev factions, it's best to leave them alone and use them as some sort of early fodder/frontier meatshield against the attack of the Chaos Dwarves while dealing with other more pressing threats. You can sign pacts with them to confederate with them if you want since they are prone to get destroyed extremely quick.
