“ | The rarest of all steeds, only the most noble of Bretonnians ride these dignified, sophisticated creatures into battle. | „ |
Royal Pegasus Knights are a Bretonnia melee cavalry unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer with the Bretonnia (DLC).
Recruitment[ | ]
- Unlocked with: Royal Menagerie
Description[ | ]
Only the richest and most powerful nobles own a Royal pegasus, for they are incredibly rare. Those fortunate enough treat theirs with the greatest respect, almost as if it were a peer. Each Lord has a handful of Knights Errant in his retinue whose responsibility it is to care for this, his prized possession and noblest of steeds. Peasants are never allowed near these beasts, lest their stench or clumsiness causes the pegasus harm - indeed, tales tell of the obsessive Volstall of Quenelles, who executed any peasant that even gazed upon his steed.
Attributes[ | ]
- Flying Cavalry
- ▲ Armoured & Shielded: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from Armour-Piercing damage. Shields have a chance of blocking arrows, bolts, rifle shots and similar small arms fire - but only in a forward facing arc.
- ▲ Living Saints : Knights who have sipped from the Grail are elevated above mere mortals; they truly are what is best in men.
- ▲ Anti-Large: Anti-Large: Anti-large units have an advantage against targets that are at least as large as a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against large targets or an attack that focuses on a very small area. However, some units are simply better against large targets because their attacks are slow and easy to dodge by skilled melee combatants.
- ▲ Very Fast: This unit can run circles around most other units, taunting and harrassing the enemy or evading its missile fire.
Strategy[ | ]
Compared to standard Pegasus Knights, these ones gain solid improved melee stats, magical attacks, Blessing of the Lady, and perfect vigour for a 500 gold increase in multiplayer or a 225 gold upkeep increase in campaign. Perfect vigour is an incredible boost to cavalry, allowing them to move at top speed and deliver their full charge bonus throughout the duration of an entire battle, where other cavalry units will tire and grow weaker over time. Once you add in the other bonuses, these units are incredibly powerful, although still somewhat delicate. They are best used for hunting down large targets and dominating the skies. Their mass can also help pin an enemy in place as they try to escape.
