Skaven are a faction full of extremes, with swarms of meat shield infantry and warbeasts that contrasts with terrifyingly powerful missile units with excellent artillery support. In the middle of that, Skaven have decent monsters and access to competent casters with three unique lores of magic centered around summons, debuffs and some damage dealing spells. Skaven almost universally suffer from poor leadership, which means they will break very easily. A blessing and a curse, because they gain damage resilience while running away, and will usually come back for another go. Skaven are infamously a tough faction for newer players to pick up, but once you let go of your man-thing squeamishness to mass casualties every battle you will learn they are in fact one of the strongest armies in the game, yes-yes.

Skaven require Total War: Warhammer II to be playable, with The Prophet and the Warlock DLC, The Shadow and the Blade DLC and The Twisted and the Twilight DLC adding several more units to their roster.
