Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

Spiteful Peaks is a province introduced in Total War: Warhammer III, located in Naggaroth.

Background[]

North of Naggarond a tall mountain range stretches for hundreds of miles to the west and east, clasped eternally in frigid gales and snow. These are the Spiteful Peaks, a natural barrier against the howling, corruption-scarred chaos wastes beyond. Dark watchtowers such as Ashrak are nestled in the mountain passes alongside sheer walls; the Dark Elves must retain constant vigilance here to repel the attentions of Hung warbands and the mutant grotesques that join them, thirsting to turn pillagers into the pillaged, slavers into slaves.

The forces of Chaos are particularly drawn by the decadent, magical energies that ebb and flow around the city of Ghrond, which sits on the frozen plain below the peaks. Home of the Dark Convent, from the top of its tallest spires its sorceresses can see the winds of magic that blow incessantly over the mountains from the realm of Chaos itself. It is said that the patterns of change and fate themselves can be discerned from this view, and Ghrond's Sorceresses are thus tasked with their endless scrying, from which Malekith hopes he can finally be provided the edge he needs to overthrow Ulthuan.
