Stonehorn (Harpoon Launcher) is an Ogre Kingdoms missile monster unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III with Ogre Kingdoms (DLC).
Recruitment[]
Unlocked with: Boulder Fields or Exotic Animal Bazaar
Description[]
Ogres have the greatest respect for Stonehorns, for the mammoth creatures are everything an Ogre aspires to be: big, violent, strong and rock-hard. They never tire of telling and retelling their favourite accounts of a Stonehorn's prowess or of the gory aftermath they leave after one of their stone-cracking charges. Whether it is the wide trails of Dwarfs flattened and squished out of their armour, the wet crunching sounds a Stonehorn makes when ploughing through Skaven hordes, or fond remembrances of Giants pile-driven deep into the ground, such blood-drenched tales are greedily called for at any raucous Ogre feast.
Attributes[]
Missile Monster
- ▲ Hybrid: This unit can perform well in both ranged combat and melee.
- ▲ Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from
Armour-Piercing damage.
- ▲ Armour-Piercing: The damage of
armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
- ▲ Collision Attacks: This unit deals additional attacks when colliding with enemies when charging.

Passive Abilities[]
Strategy[]
A generic version of a Hunter on his mount, essentially. You can use these more defensively than the standard Stonehorns, holding them back and using the missile attack until either the enemy has drawn close enough to charge or your own troops have engaged and you've spotted a good place to send it in. The range of the missile is pretty insane and is good aimed at monstrous infantry, against whom it has a solid chance of deleting a model with every launch. Failing that, large single entities will not much like being targeted with it. Overall there's no reason not to use these over the standard Stonehorns, if you can afford it.
